Mari-Leen is in the 12th grade at the Audentes private school.
She graduated from Elva Music School where she learnt the violin and has studied at the Elva Song Studio and Ulenurme Music School under Ursel Oja.
Her musical career began as part of the group Ekvivalent, but her breakthrough came thanks to the Eurosinger competition run by Skyplus radio station, in which Mari-Leen reached the final and was awarded a special prize.
This saw the start of her cooperation with composer Sven Lohmus, which resulted in Mari-Leen travelling to Kiev in spring 2005 as part of the girl group Suntribe to represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Let’s Get Loud.”
At the start of 2006 Mari-Leen launched her solo career and her first single Rahutu Tuhkatriinu /Disturbed Cinderella/ was a huge success. Her second single, Suure Linna Inglid /Big City Angels/, was released in autumn and was another smash hit in all the charts. Her third single Kiirteel/On a Highway is a beautiful ballad. Mari-Leen’s debut album, bearing the same name as her first single, Rahutu Tuhkatriinu, was released on 4 December. The majority of the songs on the album are written by Sven Lohmus, one of Estonia’s most played composers and the founder of the internationally successful pop group Vanilla Ninja. |
