| At his early age Sasha (the usual short form for Olexandr) didn’t have quite a strong health and was weak and sensitive child. But as the time passed by the love of his parents among with the care of the doctors improved his health condition .The boy changed completely! He started to fight with other boys at school and after a while gained the leadership in his small childish society. When he became 6 years old he decided to take up boxing ! This new hobby at first became the meaning of his life eventually . He was into professional box till 15. But from very early age his mother noticed another talent of his … special voice and extremely unique way of singing. Whatever was he performing “on the chair” .. became a matter of huge amusement and excitement among his family and friends. Low economic possibilities of his parents led to the fact that Sasha got his first very own old piano only in the 8th class of school. This of course didn’t stop him from singing all his childhood in the yard with the guitar in his hands. When he was 12 , he wrote a song called “Sviataya Anna”(“The Saint Anna”) . Years after that it became one of his biggest hits. This would be pretty much Olexandr’s life if it wasn’t for the event that made a rapid turn in the route of the future artist. He got a trauma on the head during a box competition which caused damage to his eyes. The doctors strict order to hung his boxing gloves on the wall sounded like a verdict to Sasha . By that time he had finished the high school and was ready to enter a college. His home town had 3 colleges – Medical , Pedagogical and Musical. The last one attracted Sasha’s attention as the old love for music played its part . During the exam he sang a song called “Nich taka misiachna” (“The moonlight night”). That was the start of the fabulous career of ”The Silver Voice of Ukraine” …… Prizes in countless competitions and grand-prix followed . Olexandr Ponomaryov was becoming more and more popular not only in Ukraine but also in the nearby countries. When in 2003 Ukraine was taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the very first time there couldn’t be another candidate for the representation than the 1st singer of the country. Olexandr was the one who started the good tradition of the Ukrainian participation in Eurovison. In the next few years he took part in a couple of TV projects . He created his own TV Show called “Smachna kraina “ (“The tasty country”) for the sake of which he became a chef in his own kitchen!!! He also participated in the famous TV show “Tantsi z zirkami” (“Dances with the stars “)where he showed that he isn’t just a good singer but an extremely good dancer as well!!! Olexandr Ponomaryov has just released a new song , a new video and is full of energy to continue the one thing he knows to do the best – to make people happy with his unique talent . |
